Late summer day

First of all, I would like to thank my friends who have made a comment below. We've had a long run of fairly rainless weather, and since the earlier work on the house is done, I've been concentrating on some projects on the computer in Linux, and other small tasks around the house. Wanda and I will have our 2-year anniversary on Tuesday. Time flies, and I'd still like to do more outdoor actvitities, which she rarely goes in for. This morning we chopped and stacked more firewood, that's always good excercise, and there was a nice cool breeze, being only in the 60's today here in Asheville. Yesterday I grouted the stone walk outside in front at the lower level, and she helped put additional stepping stones around the side. Work is slowing down a bit, and we are spending more time at home. If anyone is interested in a gift basket of toiletry products, please send some business her way, she's hoping it will work out soon, as far as getting orders, and she has business cards as well...

I finished reading a small Zen-type book last night, and lately Wanda watches very little TV for some strange reason, so it's nice and quiet. My last project on the house, probably next year, is to expand the Zen room, then any future funds in excess of my bills will be for either retirement, in case I have to replace a vehicle, travel, or medical bills. So far I'm fine, and wouldn't even seek any medical help unless something serious comes up, though I try to live fairly carefully, as far as vitamins and other things go, though I do have a few bad habits.

Not much else to say for now, I didn't want this site to get rusty, though I'm fairly negligent in writing. If I had a little device I could speak into, and have it post interesting ideas to the site as I come up with them, that would be a whole lot easier... Later then...

Another Saturday

I wanted to follow up my intro post with a few comments...
Today was a typical Saturday. Fortunately, the past half of the week has been a lot drier, as we have been plagued with wet (and hot) weather here all summer. There are so many spiders outside that when I go out to do anything, I invariably run into a web with my face and/or glasses. I really feel sorry for a lot that has happened this week, especially in New Orleans, and have been following the news. A day or so later, there was a lot of rain and wind here, but not as bad as the storms we received last year. After the hurricane, gas was a big problem. It went from around $2.50/gallon to $3.99 and finally today back to around $3.10 in the area. Wanda & I went to the flea market this morning, and later to have lunch at Tijuana Junction in Arden, a welcome change to our busy schedule.
We have a busy week coming up, so I'm trying to iron out the look & feel of this blog page, then do a few other things...
Now I'm going to send a link to this site to a few friends via e-mail and see if they post, that would be nice. I've been reading about "blogs" for quite some time now, and never had a chance to set one up before...
Well. till later then...

Well, let's get this started... so to speak

Welcome, friends, and anyone else who happens to visit this page.
My intent is to share any thoughts that come to mind, and I welcome any responses.
Please post freely.
I  gradually hope to share just about anything a pen would allow (a keyboard in this case), from opinions on current events, to thoughts of the past, to some interesting musings of just about any nature.
Feel free to visit my site for interesting links, and the main viewoftheblue.com site for our businesses.
I've been in Asheville since '96, but originally came from the Northeast. I've spent a good deal  of time on the west coast as well. If you visit my site, you will see I'm open-minded about a lot of things, and like to share the things I learn, and often some great resources on the web.
Spiritually, I'm a Zen person, not into any fixed belief, but appreciate nature and care about the environment. Politically I tend to be a bit liberal, but have an appreciation of many old-fashioned ways as well as an eclectic-progressive mix of views on things. With computers, i do consulting work and am a strong Linux proponent, call me if you want to know how to get free operating systems which will allow you to put Microsoft behind you. In business, my wife and I do convenience store inventories, which is primarily an independent business, but we have other irons in the fire as well, she also makes great natural toiletry products and gift baskets, and besides computer work (consulting, programming, web design), I'm good at electrical work, roofing and other things, and photography has always been a strong hobby as well.
But personal stuff aside, I think there is a lot to say about what's going on in the world today,
as well as so many vignettes from the past, both in my own experience, those of my family and friends, and others. All of this from the nostalgic to the tragic (present-day) things happening, and in the arenas of music, art, culture, and spirituality as well...
So, as I said, let's get started here, one thing at a time... and see how this develops.
Welcome !
